I guess we are all feeling about the same way. Un- believable that a calamity like this can happen in the good ole USA. I'm ready to "go get them"!! Also made me think of WW II. We were all in grade school, but it certainly made an impression on us all. Remember the rationing stamps, the shortages, the tin can collections, paper drives, but at least then, we knew who we were fighting. by the way, Bill and I are still flying.

Yes, I remember very well - we had a "A" gasoline card and decal in the car window. Plus ration stamps to get sugar, etc. My mom was Secretary for the OPA (office of price administration) when prices were frozen to prevent gouging. I remember the war bond drives at East Central, and buying stamps at school, making a book to exchange for a bond.
Maybe we were lucky. I don't remember any kooks like today hiding in the bushes back then. If any showed up, they were given short shrift - no messing around.
