Do you remember the last Christmas we had before graduation in '50? The Christmas vacation had just begun, (1949) and the snow was falling.

It fell for several days, leaving about 2' of snow everywhere, with drifts higher in some places. All the cars were avoiding the hills, which attracted sleds like iron to a magnet.

I remember going from the top of Kings Road where Pat Delany's house was, East to the bottom of the hill on a cafeteria tray. Don't know where the tray came from. Then going to the hill at the south end of East Central, going south to the Stadium.

It was longer, and unlike Kings Road which went straight and up to coast to a stop, this one had a dead end at the bottom. With the speed gained from the long hill, it was 'death-defying' to try to go as far as possible and not pile up against the stone wall at the bottom around the stadium.

The snow was on the ground until quite a while after school started, and we had several snowball fights with the 'kids' in Jr. High next door during lunch. And I suspect several got snow put down their shirts and faces rubbed with it. Lotsa fun.

Seems like it doesn't snow like that any more. Just in my memories.
